Item Description
Uniform, ephemera and related grouping of Brigadier General Arthur S. Nevins, SHAEF officer and eventual manager of Eisenhower’s Gettysburg farm. Uniform consists of “Ike” jacket, exhibiting English made SHAEF patch on upper left sleeve, sterling brigadier general stars on shoulder tabs, US and general’s staff insignia on lapels and five tier ribbon bar above left breast pocket. Ribbon bars present ribbons for distinguished service medal, legion of merit (oak leaf cluster), bronze star, WWI victory medal, and 12 other ribbons for campaign and foreign medals. Uniform jacket sold with “pinks” trousers, chocolate military shirt, and light tan tie. Uniform sold with mannequin form. Group also includes dress visor’s cap with small eagle insignia, brigadier generals General staff flag measuring 34 ½” x 50” (some mothing). Nevins’ cased Order of the British Empire (military), copy of the book “Gettysburg’s Five Star Farmer” by Brigadier General Arthur S. Nevins. Book presents signed presentation from Nevins’ dated May 9, 1977 on front flyleaf. Lot further includes large binder containing numerous passes, papers, photographs, White House invitations, and sketches related to Nevins and his service to both SHAEF and Dwight D. Eisenhower at his Gettysburg farm.
