Item Description
According to Coltís records, this Colt Model 1908 caliber .25 auto pocket pistol, serial number 237942, left the factory in 1920. Some time during WW2, the U.S. military acquired a small number of Model 1908 pocket pistols, including this one, on the open market, from civilian sources (not from Colt). Why these guns were purchased is still the subject of speculation, but some sources believe they may have been supplied to the clandestine O.S.S., the WW2 predecessor to the C.I.A. This specimen is stamped U.S. Property on the right side of the frame, along with a U.S. ordnance wheel on the right rear side of the frame. It has also been parkerized. The Colt grips are walnut. This gun is in mint condition, and it comes with the Colt factory letter noted above. An unusual and rarely encountered variation of the standard 1908 pocket pistol for the Colt collector. FFL required.
