It is hard enough to acquire paintings like this that have been on the market, this is totally "Fresh to the Market". As Found Canvas is off the stretcher and has the tack holes around the edges of the canvas. Overall Size is 23 1/2" x 30 1/2". Image Size is 19 1/2" x 27". Painting needs a good cleaning but is in overall remarkable condition based on the way it was stored, laying flat on an attic floor as is. Signed lower right in Monogram. Wonderful opportunity to get a cover from one of America's Premier Illustrators.

1086 - Andy Warhol. Lot. Includes Original Negatives. Great lot which includes Printed Invitation designed by Warhol for Serendipity 3. "Wants you to view Andy Warhol's new picture book " In The Bottom of My Garden' Opening December 2. 225 East 60 Cocktails 4-7". It measures 4" x 9 1/2" and is very scarce. Together with (7) 4" x 5" negatives. Four are of Warhol himself, Most likely unpublished and three of his iconic art works. Interesting Lot.

1087 - Mark David Chapman, (3) Typed Signed Letters Lot consists of (3) typed letters by Mark David Chapman, 1983. All letters are written to the officer who arrested him, and all letters are hand signed at the bottom. Each letter has interesting content referring to the book "A Catcher in the Rye". In the first letter dated 1-15-83, Chapman asks the officer if there is a way he can help him locate his copy of "A Catcher in the Rye" which was taken from him on the night of his arrest....and he finishes the letter by saying, "You're Probably Still the Best Damn Cop in New York City". The second letter dated 1-28-83 also mentions Catcher in the Rye, and Chapman tells the officer how he feels close to hime, and he would understand this if he read the book. The last letter dated 3-10-83, again mentions the book, but he also tells the officer "Someday you will know all the facts", he also asks the officer to tell him about his family and send a photo....Other statements from this letter read "Did you ever see what I sent to the NY Times on Feb 9, 1981?, This further explains what happened on the night of Dec. 8, 1980. I will let you decide whether Mr. Lennon was a phony or not. His own words shoot his life purpose full of holes....Yes, Lennon was a phony of highest degree but there were others who could, and would, have served the same purpose....Chapman ends the letter by saying "It is all in The Catcher in the Rye"....All letters have original mailing envelopes.

We offer the buyer 30 days to have this album authenticated by either JSA or PSA with a full money back return privilege, for 30 days from date of auction. The signatures look in our opinion to be good however a second opinion is advised.

1089 - Civil War Letter Archive. William Mitchell. Approx. 40 or more letters written by william Mitchell KIA Civil War. 20 letters were selected out and placed in sleeves, all with great content and information. Some letters written from Camp McClellan Iowa, "Breakfast we have plenty to eat and more coffee than you can shake a stick at, there is 360 Indians hear there is one Negro with them.... we have them at work carrying provisions and getting wood and digging will there is a man with them with a gun for to make them mind, they is large and strong men the prison is in the morth end of the camp, i saw theem twice yesterday there was a man shot hear last night about one oclock he was deserter and he was trying to get... the guard house the ball went in under his left arn and came out at his navel he is alive but he will ide soon." Other Letters written from encampments in the South. Great content with a wonderful look into the Soldiers Life.

1101 - Joshua L. Chamberlain Autographed Letter "Hero of Little Round Top", Original autographed letter by Joshua L. Chamberlain to Hon. Elliot C. Cowdin, declining an invitation due to public engagements. Dated December 16th, 1868. Signed on page 2. Letter is written on State of Maine stationary as Chamberlain was the Governor as the time. Also includes original mailing envelope. Chamberlain was an American college professor from the State of Maine, who volunteered during the American Civil War to join the Union Army. He became a highly respected and decorated Union officer, reaching the rank of brigadier general. He is most well known for his gallantry at the Battle of Gettysburg, which earned him the Medal of Honor.

1344 - S.S. Andrea Doria Final Voyage Survivor Life Vest Rare and original life jacket/vest recovered from the S.S. Andrea Doria, 1956. Back is stenciled "ITALIA....." Faded in color. Original tie straps are present. Life jacket has some wear throughout with some staining. Recovered by our consignors father who was aboard the USS Yeaton which was one of the rescue ships.

1347 - Civil War Recruiting Broadside, 3rd NY Vet Vols Circa 1863, approx. 20-1/2" x 28" with some damage along the top edge where it appears, at one time, to have been affixed to another document. The 3rd New York Vol. Inf. was originally mustered in May of 1861 and re-enlisted/ reorganized in May of 1863 which is doubtless the date of this broadside. Capt. Alex Mann is listed as the head recruiting officer with Mann having service with the 3rd from May of 1861 to August of 1864 being promoted to Captain March 25, 1862. Printed by the "Daily Journal Print, Newburgh". The 3rd New York was engaged throughout its term of service including the period after the date of this broadside. The broadside is now archivally mounted on board. Excellent piece!! Examine

1357 - Signed Early Beatles Group Photo All 4 & Pete Best Rare, Early promotional photograph of the Beatles with original drummer Pete Best. Approx. 8-1/2" x 6-1/2", this photo features the Beatles at the Cavern Club taken on December 8, 1961 by Mersey Beat newspaper photographer Dick Matthews. In 1962, Pete Best was replaced by Ring Starr. Back of this photo is signed by John Lennon, George Harrison, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, and original drummer Pete Best, which makes this photo extremely scarce. Comes with letter of authenticity from Frank Caiazzo. According to the LOA, Beatles autograph sets with both drummers are incredibly rare, and this is 1 of 3 that have ever surfaced, with this being the only known photograph. This could be one of the earliest Beatles group autographs with both drummers. Incredible piece!!
