This photograph was plate 79 of the 100 plates published in Gardner's Photographic Sketch Book of the Civil War. An interesting view of Union soldiers standing in the Confederate earthworks of Fort Fisher, which was captured in an assault on January 15, 1865.

Complete with a gold bullion rosette with "ER VII" cipher that serves as the holder for a white feather plume; lion head bosses and velvet backed chin chain. Excellent condition. Approx 16" tall.

139 - Officers' Metal Helmet, 6th (Inniskilling) Dragoon Circa 1840 Helmet with Fur Plume and Additional Gilt Lion Attachment. Originally raised in 1689, the 6th (Inniskilling) Dragoons spent the years after Waterloo (1815) on garrison duties in England and Ireland. This long garrison service finally came to an end when it was sent to the Crimea in 1854, losing all its horses en route in a fire on board its troop ship 'Europa', but still managing to take part in the charge of the Heavy Brigade at Balaklava in October 1854. This is a Fabulous Piece of British Cavalry History.

494 - Rare. Committee of Vigilance Grouping. Incredible Grouping, three pieces. Lot includes 15 1/2" x 22" Committee of Vigilance of San Francisco Certificate presented to Frank G. Edwards signed by committee members and dated May 15th 1856. The certificate is rare enough by itself but this lot comes with Three "Witching Balls". The largest 12" high is a great example of Americana with chromolithographic scraps included is his name in floral wreaths, Fire Pumper, animals, hot air balloon etc. The lot includes two smaller balls one for each of his children with their initial.
