Excellent collection of military items and memorabilia, including: bayonets, swords, trench knives, daggers, ammunition, guns, helmets, civil war, world war I, WWII, powder flasks, daguerreotypes, holsters, horse tack, reference books, ribbons/ medals, wooden models of modern fighter jets, books about war- both vintage and modern, and more! This auction also features some significant historical pieces- including Civil War presentation swords, along with known information as to their original owners, a presentation cane from The Hermitage to Capt. George Garrish, as well as a pair of Nazi-emblem doorknobs from Zeppelin field in Nurnberg. You would be hard pressed to find a more iconic symbol of Nazism than Nurnberg, Zeppelin Field. The building was the sight of some of the largest Nazi gatherings in history. Architect Albert Speer, who designed the building, has been quoted as saying "The door handle is the handshake of the building.".

450 - World War One 28th division, the iron Infantry, Doughboy helmet, this one still has the original liner, also found markings inside the helmet ZE31

451 - World War 1 Doughboy helmet, the insignias on this helmet would indicate that the soldier who wore this helmet was in a unit of the third division of the u.s. Army infantry, there is no helmet liner in this helmet, it is also stamped ZA57 on the inside Brim

452 - World War 1 Doughboy helmet, no markings on the outside however on the inside it is stamped with letters ZD75, this also has no helmet liner

452a - Nürnberg, Zeppelin Field, Pair of door knobs You would be hard pressed to find a more iconic symbol of Nazism than Nürnberg, Zeppelin Field. The building was the sight of some the largest Nazi gatherings in history. Architect Albert Speer who designed the building has been quoted as saying “The door handle is the handshake of the building." ( Included with this lot are pictures taken by the soldier who removed the knobs Col. Raymond Reder of the 3rd army in WWII. Also included are the two original shipping boxes. The handwriting on the original shipping matches the handwriting on the photos taken of the door. Each door knob measures approx. 5 3/4" in diameter and weigh approx. 5 lbs, 9oz (this weight includes the box) There are other photos included in this listing that were taken from the Internet showing the matching doors on the Zeppelin Field. They are not included in the lot but are strictly for reference purposes. This is your chance to own the handshake of the building.

1444 - Presentation sword with Scabbard blade is highly decorated and is marked "H Ruddick Boston" inscribed in script on the back of the Scabbard throat " Joseph A Ingles /Mass VM/ presented by/ Mess Clogston & Parker/ Boston" Ingles enlisted in the regiment as first lieutenant on August 20th 1862 and was commissioned into field staff of the 8 Mass on November 7th 1862, Mustered out August 7th 1863 he was again commissioned into field and staff of the regiment on July 26th 1864 and mustered out on November 10th 1864, the 29 and a half inch slightly curved blade etched for seventeen inches from the blade base, with a frosted background The observed features panels of oak leaves acorns grape vines with grapes and flowers with a monopoly of arms and flags and Us on the left sid, a spread Wing Eagle and flags in the center of the right with Oak leaves acorns and flowers the sword is in good condition please see the photos

1445 - NCO presentation sword, Sgt Major Mahon Given to Sergeant major Stephen Keith Mahon, born in Ireland, he enlisted when the 36th Iowa Infantry was organized, was appointed Sergeant Major at the staff organization, and was commissioned adjutant in August 1863, in February 1866 he received the second Lieutenant's Commission in the regular army, and was assigned to the 11th US infantry in July 1866 he was promoted again in July 1882 becoming a captain in the 16th Infantry at a later date, the Scabbard has an inscription on it" To sergeant major Stephen Keith Mahon 36 Iowa Infantry August 1862 by his hometown folks". Mahon led a prison escape (unsuccessful) but was also summoned to Washington by President Grant for a personal interview related to his service during reconstruction of Mississippi. Also, there is his photo of Sgt. Major Mahon holding sword on Page 68 of same book, and detailed description of his escape attempt starts on page 69. See the lot links for a link to this reference. 1446 - LT. Guth Civil War presentation blade sword Blade is etched "Lieut Guth from Hudson County Artillery Union Hill station January 1st 1863 No 9", overall length approximately 40 1/2 inches blade length approximately 34 inches, Blade also has very ornate etchings. LT Guth was an officer in the second US Artillery, also known as the Hexamers, battery the sword has detailed casing please see the photos. 1447 - Civil War presentation cane for Captain George Gerrish, the finely engraved silver handle reads " From The Hermitage, Geo A Gerrish", this cane measures approximately 31 inches long and is missing its tip, Captain George Gerrish commanded the first New Hampshire volunteer light battery, a Six-Gun battery of rifled brass pieces, 155 men and 115 horses, his unit fought in virtually every major battle of the army of the Potomac including Fredericksburg, Gettysburg and the Virginia campaign of 1864, his battery was overrun May 1864 at the Potomac River and he was captured by the Confederates Bearing a mark from Andrew Jackson's Hermitage, this impressive silver headed presentation Cain is guaranteed to make a fascinating Conversation Piece and it would make a wonderful addition to any collection

1448 - Dolland London sextant this comes in its own wooden carrying case measures 10 by 10 by four and a half inches there is slight damage to the back of the wooden box, it has a brass inlay of an anchor on the top and comes with a Stanley London 1941 compass please see the photos
