Lot 1359: Antique VICTORIAN PHOTOGRAPHS Tintypes Ambrotypes Daguerreutypes CDVs Cabinet Cards 16mm Movie Reel (252 views)

Antique VICTORIAN PHOTOGRAPHS Tintypes Ambrotypes Daguerreutypes CDVs Cabinet Cards 16mm Movie Reel
Estimate: $70 - $200
Details: This very large collection of mostly 19th century photographs includes many cabinet cards, as well as some beautifully framed portraits, real photo postcards, cartes des visite, a few tintypes, and a number of ambrotypes in cases. A handful of very early 20th century photos are included. There are hundreds of pictures in this lot, including some post-mortem photos.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: One unusual cased daguerreotype shows 24 tiny portraits of young ladies, and might be a school class photo. Impressed into the red velvet opposite the photograph is the trademark of "Bartlett's Gallery Hartford CT Daguerreotype Artists." In its case (which is in very good condition with some wear on the raised embossed surfaces), this item measures 3-34? x 4-5/8" x 3/4". SEE NEW PHOTOS. One 7" reel of 16mm film, in a case labeled "Horses May-June 1930" is also part of the lot.

In addition to this treasure trove of photographic material, there is a sheaf of 19th correspondence, some with domestic or foreign stamps. A tailor's bill from 1816 is here, along with a hand-written sermon dated 1817.

This material is from the Van Lennep family estate.
