Lot 732: Pair of Large Elephant Ivory Tusks, mid 20th c., uncarved, total wt.- 80 lbs., H.- 49 in. tip to tip, outside curvature- 60 in. (1075 views)
- Condition: Condition consistent with age. Ivory chipped at the pointy end of both tusks (see photos). Opposite ends of tusks are jagged with some cracks running vertically up from base. Scuff marks across surface of both tusks. Ivory varies in color from yellowish at the base to brown in the center to grayish at the tips. Some green paint residue near the base of one tusk.
Provenance: Procured by a family member of the current owner in West Africa in the late 1960s or 70s while working in the Merchant Marines.
