David Allen (TN #5600) has been closely associated with the world of antiques and collectibles for most of his life. For over a quarter of a century, David and his family were responsible for choosing, locating, and acquiring all of the decor items for the TGI Friday's restaurant chain, worldwide. During the period from 1991-2002, David assumed the role from his father as the buyer of the merchandise that "cluttered" the walls of Friday's throughout the world. He located and purchased over a quarter of a million items for use in their stores. This endeavor took him to antique malls, flea markets, and auctions throughout the US, in search of the unusual and eclectic artifact. In 2002, David began the transition into the world of professional auctioneer. His firm, Music City Auction, is located, of course, in the "music city" of Nashville, TN. Music City Auction specializes in antiques and collectibles, with a particular emphasis on advertising, music, and pop culture items. In recent years, MCA has conducted auctions for the Gibson Guitar Corporation, had several Coca-Cola and antique advertising sales, along with Civil War artifacts and business liquidations. Additionally, Mr. Allen is recognized as a leader in the area of benefit auctioneering, having presided over benefits for dozens of organizations, schools and various professional groups. |
