Shear is a third-generation auctioneer and a national leader in the auction industry. Mark is a Trustee of the National Auctioneers Association (NAA) Education Institute where he is the Chairman of Accredited Auctioneer of Real Estate (AARE) education designation program. Mark is a Certified Instructor for the National Association of Realtors (NAR). In 2007, he was part of the team of experts that developed the current edition of the NAR’s “Introduction to Real Estate Auction” continuing education course for realtors. Mark is the President of Berman Auctioneers & Appraisers (a division of BidMark Services, Inc.) which is located in Worcester, Massachusetts and serves the greater New England market. A full-time practicing auctioneer and appraiser since 1991, Mark represents the third-generation of leadership at Berman Auctioneers, a family business that traces its roots to 1932. Mark has earned the CAI designation from the NAA, the highest professional designation recognized in the auction industry in the United States. Mark is also an Accredited Auctioneer of Real Estate (AARE) Certified Estate Specialist (CES), Graduate Personal Property Appraiser-Master (GPPA-M) all awarded by the NAA. He is licensed and bonded in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont and Connecticut. Mark also holds a real estate broker’s license in Massachusetts and Connecticut. Mark is a graduate of the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota where he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Marketing and Finance with a Minor in Economics. Mark has lectured extensively on the auction method of sale for real estate. He is regularly quoted as an industry expert in the New England real estate and business press.
