A tradition of quality passed down from the turn of the century
Pioneer Auction traces its roots to the old-style Yankee auctioneer George Bean. In that tradition, low-key informality and neighborliness, combined with experience, skill and ingenuity produced an ideal auction environment for the consignor and buyer alike. The exuberant Raymond Murphy continued the tradition inspired by George Bean, and founded Pioneer Auction of Amherst in 1968 with his long-time associate William Hubbard. The gallery and its legacy are served today by Bruce Smebakken, who acquired the gallery and its tradition of service and commitment in 1986. |
