Endstation Theatre Company will hold a "Skills Auction" at the old livestock market-- now newly named the Amherst Farm and Vineyard, on Sunday May 18, 2008 from 3 PM to 5:30 PM. Music will be provided by FAST, a local band led by Mark Magruder. Barbecue is provided by Jim Myers of Daddy Bims Barcecue. Amherst Auction Services will be auctioneers. All services and all skills are donated, and all proceeds go towards the costs of producing the first Blue Ridge Summer Theatre Festival to be held at the Sweet Briar Campus in July. The entrance fee for the auction on May 18, which also includes the music, will be $5 per person and $12 per family, including children and grandparents. A plate of barbecue will be $6.50. The auction will be held in two sections, with music in between. This will be the first auction and party event to be held at the Amherst Farm and Vineyard, entrance on Route 29 going South just South of Route 151, the BP station and Apple Mart. The site was previously the Amherst Livestock Market, site of many, many auctions!

The following items have been offered for auction (Donors listed in alphabetical order):


AMY ALLEN
Amy Allen will design and create a package of made-to-order stationery for the winning bidder or their organization.

JACKIE BEIDLER
Jackie Beidler of Beidler Reality will do a Comparative Market Analysis of a house for the winning bidder. If you are not sure if you want to sell your house in this real estate market, but you want to know how much it would go for if you did think about selling it now, get a free Comparative Market Analysis of a home. (This is NOT an appraisal. Jackie will compare the subject property with what has sold over the last year. Square footage, location, number of acres, condition, etc. all play into it.)

FRANCES BUTLER
Frances Butler teach the winning bidder how to make a simple quilted item.

ELINOR CALDWELL
Elinor Caldwell will teach winning bidder to cross stitch. A two hour lesson. Includes cross stitch materials from Monticello.

WAYNE FERGUSON/ELKWOOD SALON
Wayne Ferguson of Elkwood Salon in Amherst offers the winning bidder a woman's or man's haircut at the salon.

KRISTA FRANCO
Scenic Designer for Endstation Theatre Company will give a two hour “faux finishing” lesson with paint! (Prior to August 1, 2008)

KRISTA FRANCO
Krista Franco, scenic designer for Endstation Theatre Company will design a poster or Graphic Design for the winning bidder. (2 hours prior to August 1, 2008)

MIKE GALLAGHER
Endstation Board of Directors member will cut the winning bidder's lawn (up to two hours)

LYNN HANSON
Will help the winning bidder write and edit a press release or article for an organization.

FATHER JAMES HUBBARD
Father James Hubbard will read or tell a story at the winning bidder's event.

ANNE HURLEY
Anne Hurley, Manager of the Amherst Farm and Vineyard will teach a one-hour lesson in making a necklace with glass beads and pearls. All materials included.

HILARY JENKINS
Hilary Jenkins will do two hours of yard work at winner's home (in Amherst area).

NED KABLE
Ned Kable will read for one hour to a shut-in or someone who likes being read to (such as a small child or an older person with low vision).

SVET KANEV
Svet Kanev will teach a winning bidder a two-hour chess lesson. Svet Kanev, who is the winemaker for Rebec Vineyards, is a very good chess player, who learned in Bulgaria, where he grew up.

GEOFF KERSHNER
Geoff Kershner, Artistic Director of Endstation Theatre Company, will teach the winning bidder a weight training lesson in a gym.

REBECCA MASSIE LANE
Rebecca Massie Lane, for the past 18 years curator of the Sweet Briar College galleries, will help the winning bidder research the value of a piece of art.

MARK MAGRUDER
Mark Magruder, leader of the FAST band, will teach a one-hour Blues guitar lesson to a winning bidder.

MARK MAGRUDER
Mark Magruder, Professor of Dance at Sweet Briar College, will teach a winning bidder a one-hour Yoga instruction

MAYS PAINTING/JUSTIN MAYS OR CARINA LEE

Carina Lee and/or Justin Mays of Mays Painting will give to the winning bidder a one-hour lesson on “how to paint like a pro.” Perfect for the person whose spare bedroom needs a new coat of paint!

DONNA MEEKS
Donna Meeks will do a one-hour consultation about your garden at the home of an Amherst area winning bidder. Donna Meeks is the Grounds Superintendent and Horticulturalist at Sweet Briar College and participates in the family business Gardenscape, Inc.

KATIE MEEKS
Katie Meeks of Rebec Vineyards will conduct a special “Wine Tasting 101” lesson & tour at Rebec Vineyard's Tasting Room off rote 29 North of Route 610.

ED MIKENAS
Ed Mikenas, local free lance musician and the new organist at the Amherst Presbyterian Church donates one one-hour hand drum lesson.

LOU OGDEN / LOU'S ANTIQUE MALL
Lou Ogden of Lou's Antique Mall will look at three of the winning bidder's antiques and estimate their value. Winner can telephone and make an appointment to bring them to her Amherst Store on 2nd Street in Amherst, or if you live in Amherst, Faulconerville, Monroe or Madison Heights you can make an appointment for Lou to come to your house and value larger furniture items there.

JEFF PRICE
Jeff Price of Virginia Limeworks and Endstation Board member will give the winning bidder a choice of a quick sketch portrait or caricature lesson.

JEN STATON
Endstation Board member and caterer and special events coordinator Jen Staton provides the winning bidder a Dessert Reception for 25 people.

MIKE STATON
Mike Staton will teach one day of rock climbing instruction to a winning bidder.

BECKY STEWART / BLUE RIDGE SQUARES
Becky Stewart and Chuck, who is the caller for the Blue Ridge Squares, will host a two hour square dance for the winning bidder's organization or party. The Squares are Amherst's own Square Dance Company. Chuck will teach dances and call them.

KITTY SWANSON
Kitty Swanson will teach a winning bidder how to knit an Aran fisherman's sweater (you may request another type of sweater lesson or a Needlepoint lesson in the basket weave stitch instead.)
