Douglas Hensley is President & Managing Broker of Gorsuch-Hensley Real Estate & Auction, Inc., a real estate brokerage and auction firm located in Canton, Illinois. Hensley was raised on a cash grain and livestock farm in western Illinois. His many years in the land sales business, coupled with his farm production experience and secondary education, make him particularly quick in understanding the land sales business. In addition to his work in real estate, Hensley also taught on topics involving agricultural finance, real estate sales, auction law, and small business dynamics. While at the University of Illinois, he helped teach a semester long undergraduate agricultural finance class, managing the work of nearly 80 students. He has also lectured in other related agricultural courses, and worked in conjunction with The Center for Farm and Rural Business Finance at the University of Illinois. In recent years, Hensley co-developed and presented at a seminar series for agricultural producers and landowners involving the dynamics of land ownership, 1031 tax-deferred exchanges, and estate planning. In addition, Hensley has written and taught multiple continuing education courses for both real estate and auction professionals in Illinois.
