Byron attended Reisch Worldwide College of Auctioneering in Mason City Iowa in the summer of 1978 immediately after graduating from high school, and was hired immediately by Lage & Baier Auction company of Wayne and Pilger Nebraska. After moving to Southwest Iowa in 1986, he started up his own auction company, Menke Auction Service in Treynor Iowa. He obtaining his Iowa and Nebraska Real Estate license in 2000, and his Iowa and Nebraska Brokers license in 2005 while working as a salesperson for NP Dodge Real Estate. In 2008 he left NP Dodge and joined a partnership and opened a Real estate & Auction office in Treynor, and became affiliated with United Country Real Estate & Auction Service. In 2009 he obtained his South Dakota Real Estate Brokers license. In 2013 he formed his own company, now known as United Country Menke Auction & Realty. Byron has been active in his local and State Realtor organizations serving in numerous capacities, including President of the Southwest Iowa Association of Realtors, as a member of the Iowa Realtors Executive Committee, the Iowa Realtors Legislative Committee, the Legal Affairs and Professional Standard Committee, and as a member of the Realtors Foundation of Iowa. Byron specializes in the sale of farmland, acreages, but also is very active in the residential sales area as well. His Auctions consist of Real Estate of all types, farm machinery, estate and antique, as well as business liquidations. He donates his time to over 20 benefit and fundraising auctions annually. Byron has 2 grown children and 2 grandchildren.
